One more innocent (probably) person dies because of torture by the system and his daughter-in-law.
Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, Dec 17 : A 60-year-old prisoner, who was arrested on the charges of dowry harassment, died at Palayamkottai Central Prison, here today.
Police said Ravindran Barnard (64), hailing from Madurai, was arrested by Tuticorin Police on December 5 last on a dowry harassment complaint from his daughter-in-law Dr Agnus Latha (34), a medical practitioner.
He was lodged in Central Prison at Palayamkottai here.
Since then the health condition of Barnard had been deteriorating. He was admitted to the hospital inside the prison complex. He suffered a cardiac arrest and died this morning.
An investigation was underway, police added.
